Fashion Trends 2010: Will They or Wont They?
You might be surprised by some of the trends that are forecasted for Spring 2010… but who would have thought that past trends like jumpsuits, fingerless biker gloves or leg warmers would catch on?
Which of these trends will be hot in 2010 and which will fizzle out?
HEADWEAR
Madonna spearheaded this trend in 2009 with the Louis Vuitton bunny ears she wore to the Met Costume Gala. Expect to see many knockoffs this spring, along with headwear adorned with horns and mouse ears.
FACEWEAR
2009 was the year of Lady Gaga and she shows no sign of stopping in 2010. Did she spark a trend with face coverings? No one can forget last year’s face-covering lace or the bird’s nest at the VMAs. These “face masks” are already popping up on the runway and at fashion houses for next season.
FUTURISTIC FASHION
The futuristic trend was kicked off in 2009, namely by Rihanna’s straight from the runway looks and Beyonce’s Balmain military jacket. You can expect this trend to go full throttle in 2010. Think shiny materials, accentuated shoulders and provocative high dress splits.
LINGERIE…AGAIN?
Wearing lingerie outside the bedroom has been in and out of style since Madonna’s Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra in the early 1990s. Daring celebrities like Rihanna and Lady Gaga have brought lingerie as daywear into the mainstream again with luxury full-body corsets, Marc Jacobs’ bras as outerwear, slips and Hussein Chalayan’s garter belts with knee high boots.
BLEACHED EYEBROWS & PEROXIDE BLONDE HAIR
One year, bushy eyebrows are a hot trend and then the next year, thin is in. In 2010, bleached eyebrows are big on the runway from designers like Jonathan Saunders and in ad campaigns for Givenchy. You can expect to see white blonde hair with matching eyebrows – on and off the runway.

The last couple of years have been so serious, I think everyone wants to have more fun again, especially with their fashion. I'm envisioning Marc Jacobs' whimsy alongside Gaultier's strong, structured silhouettes. Madonna's "Material Girl" will fit right in!

I think the lingerie trend will be big. With a blazer and the right shoes, it can work for any woman. Cynthia Vincent just came out with some really cute lingerie style dresses that I'm obsessing over!
